FENWICK

Academic Support

Fenwick’s commitment to supporting all students in their academic journey is integral to our educational approach. Our academic support services are designed to respond to the particular needs of each student, ensuring that all learners are equipped for success.

Academic Support for Students with Documented Learning Differences

Fenwick provides inclusive, tailored academic support for students with documented learning differences. While we are not necessarily able to honor every facet of a student’s IEP or 504 plan, these documents inform the work of our Director of Academic Support who crafts from them a Fenwick Educational Success Plan, working closely with the student, their parents, and their teachers to ensure the student’s ability to access the curriculum and achieve success.

These students have access to our Academic Support Center during the school day, where they receive accommodations such as: schoolwork assistance, extended time on assessments, executive function coaching, etc. in accord with their approved plan.

Academic Support for All Students

Teachers are available for at least a half-hour after school Monday through Thursday to provide additional guidance and clarification on course material. Many teachers make themselves available for longer amounts of time and also offer morning and Friday afternoon support by appointment.

Whether students need help with understanding complex concepts, improving study strategies, or refining their written work, our faculty is committed to providing the personalized attention necessary to enhance academic achievement. This opportunity fosters a collaborative and supportive learning environment, where students can deepen their understanding and excel in all disciplines.

The Academic Support Center provides two programs that are available to all students.

  • Math Monday is a peer tutoring session that takes place after school each Monday, connecting strong upperclassmen math students with those needing close assistance.

  • Folder Friday is a weekly opportunity for students to drop in and receive organizational assistance with managing their folders, notebooks, and backpacks. Free folders are provided.
