Award Nomination Forms for Faculty/Staff

Starting this year, we are adding a Graduating Class Speaker to the Baccalaureate and Awards Ceremony. We ask faculty and staff to nominate a senior who represents the values and virtues of Fenwick and who models the qualities and characteristics we hope to see in our graduates. This person cannot be the valedictorian, salutatorian, or senior class president. It should be a student whose message will reflect our school’s mission and resonate with her/his classmates. We are looking for someone who has the respect and admiration of her/his classmates and of our faculty/staff. This honor is not for a top scholar; instead, it is for someone who embodies the spirit of Fenwick and can represent their class with authenticity, confidence, and heart. Please nominate the graduating senior who will effectively, genuinely, and meaningfully address their classmates and our broader community on this special day.

Integrity; an adherence to a code of values, sincerity, honesty and candor. These characteristics describe these two students as they are seen on the athletic field.

The Notre Dame Award is named after the Sisters of Notre Dame, who were the first Sisters to staff Bishop Fenwick. This award is given to a female member of a sports team who demonstrates spirit, determination and example rather than just ability.

The Donaldson Award is named after Steven Donaldson, a member of the class of 1964 who served and sacrificed his life in Vietnam. This award is given to a male member of a sports team who demonstrates spirit, determination and example rather than just ability.

This scholarship fund was established by Christine’s family as a living tribute to Chris, who lost her life in a tragic automobile accident after her sophomore year. Chris’s Place, the courtyard between the chapel and art wing, stands as a reminder of Chris’s smile and offers a quiet place for students or faculty.

This award is named after Sr. Madeleine and Sr. Julienne O’Rourke, who were Sisters of Notre Dame as well as biological sisters. This award is given to a student who has selflessly given long hours of time and dedicated service to Bishop Fenwick High School as well as the broader community.

Sr. Margaret had a great love for education and delighted in watching all of her students move forward to new heights.

This award is named after the foundress of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur, and is given each year to the student who represents a sincere dedication to excellence, who possesses a realistic vision and hope for the future and who is thoroughly involved in life.

The Bishop Benedict Joseph Fenwick Award, honoring the Jesuit Bishop for whom Fenwick is named, who founded the College of the Holy Cross and who started The Pilot Catholic newspaper, is given to the two students in the graduating class, one female and one male, who, in the estimation of the faculty and staff, best reflect and reveal the core values of Fenwick - Faith, Integrity, Relationship, Scholarship, and Tradition.

This award is presented to a member of the faculty or staff at Commencement. In 2021, Mr. John Meehan, Fenwick's beloved Facilities Director, died tragically and suddenly. Mr. Meehan touched the lives of many at St. Mary of the Annunciation and at Fenwick. His character, integrity, friendship, work ethic, gracious presence, and selfless service left a lasting impact on all who knew him. The John J. Meehan Award for Exemplary Service to Bishop Fenwick High School is given to a faculty or staff member at graduation and voted on by our Fenwick community—the Senior Class, faculty, and staff.
