Encounter Retreats

The goal of “The Encounter” retreat is to rediscover the reasonableness and the joy of the Encounter with the person of Jesus Christ. Through prayer, witnesses and a shared common life, retreatants will be able to recognize Christ’s presence as relevant to their  human experience.

Below are some FAQs about the Encounter retreat. Please contact Mr. Carney (rc@fenwick.org) or Father Benetti (fmb@fenwick.org) with any other questions you may have. Both of us are happy to set up a phone call to talk through more details.

FAQs about the Encounter Retreat

Where and when is the retreat?

  • Where: Craigville Retreat Center

    • The Craigville Retreat Center is a popular retreat center located right next to Craigville beach on Cape Cod.

  • When: Encounter 9 will take place from the afternoon of Thursday November 6 – midday on Sunday November 9, 2025

How do students get there and back?

  • Students will get back around 1pm on Sunday November 9th. We will conclude with a Mass at Bishop Fenwick.

How many students are going?

  • Check in with Mr. Carney in Campus Ministry to see who is going. We are anticipating 50 – 60 students from all grade levels on this retreat.

  • Even though you won’t  know all of the students who are going, this is a great opportunity to make great new friends

What do you do there?

  • On the Encounter retreat, we try to spend time intentionally with one another and with God. This includes a mix of games, talks from students and adults, reflection, prayer, music, and an infamous football game.

What does it cost?

  • For food, lodging, and transportation the cost is $300.

  • If cost is an issue, please email Mr. Carney or Fr. B. We will not let cost be prohibitive.

What if I take medication?

  • Your child should bring their medication in a Ziploc bag. I (Mr. Carney) will hold the medication during the retreat and ensure they take it as prescribed. Our nurse, Mrs. Riley-Singh, will call you to confirm the plan.

I haven’t been to church and I don’t really practice my faith, can I still go?

  • Yes, of course. This retreat is for ALL people regardless of where you are on your faith journey.
