FENWICK

GS (Gioventu Studentesca)

GS (Gioventu’ Studentesca) is a youth group based on a wide Catholic movement that began in Italy called Communion and Liberation.

It is a group for high school and a few adults who desire to discover the reasonableness and beauty of the faith in all aspects of our life: leisure, work, study, current events, prayer-life, etc.

It began in 1954 when Fr Luigi Giussani, the founder of GS, gathered a group of his high school students around him and proposed to them to live faith openly and radically. There are other GS communities in the US (Washington DC, Denver, Saint Paul, and others), and around the world.

What do we do?

Our Fenwick students participate and lead the GS Boston group that meets regularly on Saturdays from 5:30 pm to 9:30 pm in our school. On Saturdays, we share out lives together, eat dinner, play games and pray.

We participate and help to organize two Encounter retreats at Fenwick per year, and two GS vacations, one in the Winter and the other one in the Summer, with other GS students around the US.

Once a month, on the third Saturday of the month, we do homeless ministry in the streets of Boston starting from the Holy Cross Cathedral from 9:30 am to 3 pm. This is a way in which by living charity towards our friends in the street we discover our deepest identity in our relationship with God and others.
