Elizabeth Burba-Dick ‘90 – A Doctor of the Next Generation
12/11/25
Elizabeth Burba-Dick, a 1990 graduate of Bishop Fenwick, knew at an early age she wanted to pursue medicine. Even at Fenwick, she loved all her science classes, recognizing they would help her in preparing to become a doctor. After Bishop Fenwick, Elizabeth attended Fairfield University and then went on to Georgetown University, completing her pediatric residency at Georgetown Hospital. After receiving her medical degree, Elizabeth stayed at Georgetown Hospital as Chief Resident.
After four years serving as Resident/Chief Resident at Georgetown Hospital, Elizabeth began her career as a practicing Pediatrician, working in Chelmsford for two years, before joining Woburn Pediatrics in 2004. Over the past two decades, she has become both a trusted partner in the practice and the community, and one of its managing partners, helping guide the future of her practice while continuing her passion for caring for children.
When asked about why she pursued pediatric medicine, Elizabeth told us, “I love seeing kids grow up. And now I’m getting to see the kids of my former pediatric patients; it’s a real full circle of life moment. I enjoy helping young families and affirming young parents that they are doing a great job in raising their kids.”
Elizabeth told us she chose to attend Fenwick because her older sister (Elaine ’89) attended the school, and because her parents wanted her to have a quality Catholic education. After Elizabeth enrolled, her younger sister (Deborah ’92) soon followed, and then in later years her three nieces also chose to attend the school – a great Burba Fenwick family legacy!
When asked to recall a favorite Fenwick memory, Elizabeth was quick to say, “I loved being on the Fenwick Girl’s Basketball Team, and I’ll never forget playing in the State Semi-Finals at the old Boston Garden. I loved playing on the same parquet floor that Larry Bird played!” And when asked what skills she learned while at Fenwick, Elizabeth told us, “Knowing the importance of friendship and camaraderie is key. Fenwick’s teachers always wanted to help me, and I wish to do the same in my profession. I loved the sense of community at Fenwick and I carry that feeling with me today.”
We concluded our interview with Elizabeth by asking for a few words of advice for today’s Fenwick students, and here is what she told us: “Don’t worry about what others think of you, be true to your own self. And get involved. If someone asks you to join a team, club, or a performance, just do it! You won’t be disappointed.”
