Peter Andruszkiewicz ’75 – Why I Support Bishop Fenwick …
01/01/26
Peter Andruszkiewicz, a member of the Class of 1975, has always been known as a change maker, both in his professional life and here at Bishop Fenwick. Peter A., as most of his classmates and friends know him, is an accomplished healthcare executive with extensive leadership experience including roles as CEO and President of Blue Cross & Blue Shield of Rhode Island and President of Kaiser Foundation Health Plan of Georgia. He has also served in executive positions at CIGNAHealthcare.
After retiring in 2016, Peter wanted to spend more time with his wife, Danielle, and their growing family — now 4 children and 5 grandchildren, with one more grandchild on the way! Additionally, he hoped to devote his energies to supporting organizations that have been important and impactful for them. Fortunately for us, Fenwick was one of those institutions — and Peter’s influence has been invaluable!
Peter recalls vividly the day back in 2016 when the then Fenwick Principal, Brother Thomas Zoppo, and Board Chair, Dan Dunn ’74, visited him for lunch to discuss his involvement with Fenwick. “I was excited and honored to be asked by Brother Tom and Dan to join the Fenwick Board of Trustees”, Peter told us. “I very much enjoyed my time on the Fenwick Board, which just concluded this past year after three, three-year terms. I feel one of my greatest contributions on the Board was my participation in the hiring of now current President Tom Nunan, who has truly set Fenwick on a strong future course.”
In addition to the valuable role Peter has played as a trustee at Fenwick, his exemplary philanthropic support of the school has been inspirational and transformational. He has been a strong supporter of the Fenwick Fund, reunion giving, capital campaign projects, and event sponsorships. When asked about his philosophy of giving back to Fenwick, Peter told us, “Danielle and I prioritize our philanthropy for places we know are making a difference. I’m so grateful for the faith and the values that Fenwick taught me, and that it continues to teach students each and every day. I feel it is important to give back to those places that helped shaped who you are, and Fenwick is one of those places!”
During the closing minutes of our interview, Peter expressed to us how important it is for all alumni to know the importance of giving back to Fenwick. “Reflect on your own experience, growth, and achievements while at Fenwick, and consider donating today so others can have those same great experiences”, said Peter. And he added, “People should know that the school’s tuition revenue helps to pay the daily budgetary needs, while philanthropy helps to advance the school in critically important ways.”
The Bishop Fenwick community is extraordinarily grateful to Peter and Danielle for all they continue to do for our school. They have helped set the standard for leadership and stewardship at Fenwick, and in doing so, are advancing Fenwick’s sacred and vibrant mission. Peter and Danielle are shining examples of Bishop Fenwick’s motto – “Bonitas et Fidelitas; Goodness and Loyalty”.
